Freshman center Nolan Berry is transferring from Butler. He has heard from FGCU, Saint Louis, Loyola (IL), Northwestern, Vermont, Davidson, and UC Davis. Joe Dooley traveled up to Indianapolis to meet Berry sometime this past week (March 31 - April 4). At De Smet Jesuit High School in Saint Louis, Berry was teammates and good friends with current Florida Gulf Coast commit Eric Moeller.

I think the Eagles have a good shot at landing him but my gut and practical side says he ends up at Saint Louis. Makes more sense.

Unless Nate's injury is worse than expected or someone is transferring out I have no idea where the scholarship for this kid will come from. We already have 14 players for next season with 13 spots. We will see, but I am not expecting to see Berry in a FGCU uniform.

Well I haven't heard differently so I'm assuming he will have to redshirt next season when he transfers, per NCAA rules.

As a redshirt he would still count against the scholarship limit which would push us to 15 guys on scholorship;
Comer Thompson Jones McKnight Graf Filip Debose Marc-Eddie Greene Hovey Hicks Terrell Johnson Moeller
That is our 14 as it stands, as of now one of them either one won't get a scholarship or someone won't be back/make it next season. Unless Berry is looking to walk on I just don't see it happening.

Whoops, yeah - the fact that they are going after him tells me that a lot more is going on behind the scenes with the scholarship. Or that his connection with Moeller was too good of an opportunity to pass up and they would figure out scholly situation later.

That's why I mentioned Nate's injury as a possible concern.
