McGhee is a 2014 three star power forward out of Hargrave Military Academy. He has taken visits to Western Kentucky (Feb. 21), FGCU (March 15), and Louisiana Lafayette (March 30). He has a visit planned to Ole Miss on April 18th. Out of the class of 2013 of Monroe High School in Georgia, he was originally comitted to Auburn before going to Hargrave.
